Remembering with Gratitude, Rejoicing in Hope.

Eternal and Affectionate Remembrance

We give thanks to God for the faithful lives of those who have shaped our school and community. Their love for the Lord, their devotion to students, and their unwavering commitment to Christian education continue to inspire us. The stories that follow honor the legacy of founders, teachers, students, and friends whose lives left a lasting imprint on PCA. In remembering them with gratitude, we celebrate God’s faithfulness and the eternal hope we share in Christ.

Sheila Given

Founder

Shelia Given was a faithful prayer warrior who loved the Lord and all people. Growing up as an only child in Wickliffe, Kentucky, she longed for a large family and a life devoted to loving others. God fulfilled that desire through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and through the countless lives touched by her obedience to Him.

Out of her passion for Christian education, Shelia—alongside Nancy Carter and Melody Noah—prayed and worked tirelessly to establish PCA. Together they studied, traveled, and sought the Lord’s guidance in founding the school. Shelia poured herself into this calling, serving as founder, board member, secretary, nurse, janitor, mentor, and always as a devoted prayer warrior. She met personally with families, encouraged students, and generously gave her time, talents, and resources to see children grow in God’s truth.

Shelia’s joy, faith, and unwavering commitment to the Lord shaped the very heart of PCA. Her legacy of love and obedience continues to bless generations of students and families, and we thank God for the lasting impact of her life.

On the PCA campus, Sheila's legacy is honored both in the naming of the Library and with benches in the Memorial Garden.

Nancy Carter

Founder

Nancy Carter faithfully loved the Lord, cherished His Truth, and devoted herself to her family. Her passion for the education of children shaped every aspect of her life. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Nancy continually sought wisdom and growth. As a founder of PCA, she served as board member, curriculum developer, administrator, and teacher, leaving an indelible mark on the school’s early years. She played a vital role in equipping classically trained teachers and laying the foundation for PCA’s success. Throughout her life, Nancy remained a steadfast advocate for Classical Christian Education, inspiring generations to pursue God’s truth with excellence.

James Frazee

First Head of School

James Frazee faithfully served PCA from 1997 until his unexpected passing in 2004. As a teacher, administrator, and Head of School, his leadership and heart were invaluable in laying the foundation of PCA. James was known for his wisdom, wit, intellect, gentleness, playfulness, humility, and kindness. His ability to connect deeply with students, parents, and faculty reflected his genuine love for Jesus and made him truly one of a kind. His legacy remains one of faithfully following God’s Word and pointing others to his beloved Savior. James’ passing coincided with the bittersweet opening of the current Logic School building, a project he was instrumental in bringing to life. In the wake of his loss, the Cross Wall display was created by the families under his leadership, each cross representing countless prayers lifted to the Lord. This memorial continues to stand as a tangible reminder of beauty from ashes and of the eternal hope we have in Christ.

She taught 3rd grade for several years before stepping into the role of Lower School Director of Curriculum & Instruction. Karen’s vision and dedication enriched the Grammar School’s foundational curriculum, leaving a legacy that continues to shape students today. She was a true servant leader, marked by her genuine love for children and her desire for every student to grow in God’s Word. In her honor, the SLS room bears her name, and a tree planted outside the office stands as a living reminder of her life and service.

Hallee Cartwright

Student

Hallee Cartwright (February 13, 1997 – October 9, 2009) was a joyful presence at PCA from Kindergarten until her unexpected passing in 7th grade after a brief illness. Her determined spirit and radiant heart shone on the volleyball and basketball courts as well as in the classroom. Hallee was a true friend to all and a beloved daughter of the King. Her life and legacy continue to be remembered with love and with #35 forever in our hearts.

Cole Johnson (December 14, 2010 – May 23, 2022) was a beloved PCA student throughout his Grammar school years. Bright, compassionate, and outgoing, Cole had a genuine love for learning, baseball, and, most of all, God. He was known for his gentle spirit and kind heart, always a friend to everyone around him. Cole’s unexpected passing at the close of his 5th grade year left a deep void, yet his joyful smile, love for his family and friends, and Christlike example will be cherished in our hearts forever.
